We’ll talk to Rock Hill Economic & Urban Development Director Stephen Turner about the city’s past, present, and future. He’ll tell us about the path that brought him to his pivotal role in the transformation of Rock Hill from a struggling textile town to a fast-growing and vibrant community. He’ll talk about the principals of a positive local economy, investing in people, and the perspective that’s carried him through his career.

Stephen has been driving positive change in Rock Hill since 1983. He’s lead the creation of Knowledge Park, innovative reuse of historic textile mills and the development of Rock Hill’s burgeoning Main Street.

He’s a member Board of Directors of the Arts Council of York County, as well as a founding member of Historic Rock Hill, an organization where he serves as president.  A native of Rock Hill, Stephen earned a B.A. in Urban Studies from Furman University and a M.A. in Economics from UNC-Chapel Hill.
