Episode 65: The Democratic Presidential Candidates Forum With Winthrop President Daniel Mahony

Winthrop President Dr. Daniel F Mahony talks about The Democratic Presidential Candidates Forum, which takes place this Friday in Rock Hill. Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O’Malley are scheduled to attend this event, that will include an MSNBC broadcast of a special edition of Hardball with Chris Matthews.

But first, we’ll meet Dr. Mahony and hear about his history at Kent State University, where he was Dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Services during a profound period of growth in Kent’s community. He’ll talk about the mirrored growth happening in Old Town at present, and his excitement around the future of our city.

Dr. Daniel F. Mahony became Winthrop University’s 11th president on July 1, 2015. Before Winthrop, he served for seven years as dean of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services and a professor of sport management at Kent State University in Ohio.

Dr. Mahony graduated with a  B.S. in accounting from Virginia Tech, went on to receive an M.S. in sport management from West Virginia University, and then a Ph.D. in sport management from Ohio State University.

Dr. Mahony has been married for more than 20 years to wife Laura, and they have two beautiful children, Gavin & Elena.
